At the piano, this tension is most clearly expressed in the division of roles between the hands. Rhythmically, the piece moves in 9/8 time: each bar divides into three groups of three eighth notes. Anyone who practises the left hand in isolation first will quickly notice: the octave leaps land most securely when the wrist stays relaxed and the movement comes from the arm — not the fingers. Position shifts become more reliable when you briefly reach for the target positions without looking before bringing both hands together. The contrasting rhythms in the right and left hands take time — best to combine them slowly until neither hand throws the other off the beat. Particular attention is warranted at bar 41, where the piece modulates to A minor: the harmonic colour shifts abruptly here, and the left hand must simultaneously execute a position change — both together can briefly disrupt the flow. Dynamics carry the piece in a decisive way: use crescendo and decrescendo not as decoration, but as structural tools — the emotional arc only becomes audible when the volume shapes the melodic line and allows the phrases to breathe.
