notendownload.com is a specialized online shop for licensed digital sheet music – active in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) since 2004. The range includes more than 300,000 titles from over 150 publishers for more than 200 instrumentations.

The principle: No subscription. Buy once, download instantly, use forever. All sheet music is professionally engraved, fully licensed and available as a PDF immediately after purchase.
Sheet music is delivered exclusively as PDF files. Playback tracks are provided as MP3 files.

notendownload does not offer editable formats for notation software – so no MusicXML, no MIDI and no Sibelius/Finale format.
No. notendownload delivers exclusively PDF files, which can be displayed and printed on any device, but cannot be imported into or edited in notation software.

MusicXML, MIDI or other editable notation formats are not available.
You only need a PDF program. One is already preinstalled on most devices:

  • Windows: Microsoft Edge, Adobe Acrobat Reader
  • macOS / iOS: Preview (built in)
  • Android: standard PDF viewer or Adobe Reader
The sheet music can be opened, displayed and printed on computers, tablets and smartphones.

Tip: Save the PDF file locally on your device before opening it – this prevents display problems when opening directly in the browser.

With most payment methods, the sheet music is available for download immediately after successful payment in the "My Sheet Music" area.

Exception – prepayment (bank transfer): The sheet music is unlocked after payment is received. This usually takes 1–3 business days. After unlocking you will receive a confirmation email.
All purchased sheet music is stored permanently in your customer account and can be downloaded again at any time and as often as you like – with no expiry date and no download limit.

No, there is no minimum order value. Sheet music can be bought individually from approximately €0.99.

Exception: For certain choral works a minimum quantity applies, which is stated on the respective product page.
No. notendownload.com works exclusively with single purchases. There is no subscription, no membership and no hidden fees.

You only buy the sheet music you want – nothing more.
That depends on the title:

Included free of charge: Some items include a playback at no extra cost. These are marked as "Playback free with the sheet music".

Optional, paid: For other titles a playback can be added as an extra product. The available combinations (sheet music only / sheet music + playback / playback only) are shown on the product page.
After purchase you will find all your sheet music in the "My Sheet Music" area in your customer account. There, all files (PDF and MP3) can be downloaded at any time.

Recommendation: Save the file locally on your device (do not open it directly in the browser) to avoid display problems.

Did you receive a confirmation email?

Yes: Log in at My Sheet Music. If your items do not appear there, please contact support.

No: Your payment may not have been completed successfully. Possible causes: incorrect payment details, an interrupted payment process or a technical problem. Please try the payment again or contact us.

Digital downloads cannot be returned once they have been provided. This is in line with the statutory regulations for digital goods (Section 356(5) German Civil Code / EU Consumer Rights Directive).

Usage Rights & License

No. Purchased sheet music is licensed for personal use.

Permitted:
  • One printed copy for your own use
  • One private digital backup on your own devices
Not permitted:
  • Passing the file on to third parties
  • Copying or distribution (digital or printed)
  • Commercial use
  • Uploading to platforms or network drives

The license permits one printout for personal use. Multiple printouts for other people or for sharing are not permitted without separate authorization.

Yes. notendownload is an authorized distribution partner of more than 150 music publishers and authors. All titles are offered with the express permission of the rights holders – there is no legal grey area.

The licensing agreements with publishers have been in place since the company was founded in 2004. Since 2011, out-of-print titles have also been made digitally available again on behalf of publishers.

Yes. Every download on notendownload.com leads to the payment of a licensing fee to the publishers and authors of the respective musical works. A purchase on notendownload.com therefore directly supports the music creators.

Problems?

Please check the following points:

  • Is the email address spelled correctly? (common mistake: a character such as the "t" before "-online.de" is missing)
  • Is Caps Lock activated?
  • Have the email address or password been changed since registration?
If login still does not work, use the forgot-password function or contact support.

Use the forgot-password function on the login page. Enter your email address and you will receive a link to reset your password by email.

Reset password
Log in to your customer account. After logging in, you will find the "Change password" option in the account settings at the top right under "My Sheet Music".

Hover over the "My Sheet Music" area at the top right of the page. In the menu that opens, select "Logout".

You have logged out successfully when the blue "My Sheet Music" button appears at the top right (without your name).
If the download buttons in "My Sheet Music" are greyed out, one of the following problems is usually the cause:

  • The payment has not yet been completed (e.g. still pending with prepayment)
  • A technical error while unlocking the item

All PDFs at notendownload are produced in professional print quality. Display errors (e.g. only note stems without note heads) are usually caused by outdated or incompatible PDF software.

Solution: Open the file with Adobe Acrobat Reader (free, available for all operating systems). Download the PDF file to your device first and then open it – not directly in the browser.
