Product Description
"Heute Hier, Morgen Dort" is one of the best-known German folk pieces. These piano and vocal sheet music allow you to bring the song to life yourself. The arrangement is aimed at players with approximately four years of lessons: position shifts in the left hand and fast runs in the right demand coordination and precision. As part of the playbackNOTEN series, it also fits seamlessly into ensemble settings.
Sheet Music "Heute Hier, Morgen Dort" – Lively Folk Song for Piano & Voice
Hannes Wader wrote this song together with Gary Bolstad — a song about restless wandering, about choosing a life without a fixed anchor. The lyrics describe this nomadic existence without complaint, with a quiet sense of freedom instead. Wader belongs to the German Liedermacher tradition of the 1970s, and with this piece he created a genuine classic that continues to resonate at song evenings and around campfires to this day.
C major gives the piece its accessibility — no accidentals, consistently diatonic harmony, meaning the harmonic language moves entirely within the natural scale tones. That said, the arrangement holds some genuine challenges. The vocal line sits in a comfortable middle register, but requires clean shaping through its delicate legato phrases — short slurs where each phrase needs its own flow. The intermediate level rating is well earned: the combination of position shifts in the left hand and fast passages in the right makes coordinated playing a real task. Add to that regular syncopations, which give the piece its folk-driven momentum — and which, in practice, tend to become the most common stumbling block: the steady pulse of the left hand and the offset entries of the right need time to find each other.
- Range: c' to d'' (1 octave)
- Main challenge: Position shifts in the left hand
- Additional challenge: Fast runs in the right hand
- Ideal for: Song evenings, campfires, informal music-making with friends
Playing the right-hand runs alone — without the left hand — quickly reveals where the fingers still hesitate, and that is precisely where slow, note-by-note practice pays off. The position shifts in the left hand become more secure when worked through in isolation before bringing both hands together. For the syncopations, a tried-and-tested approach helps: count the syncopated voice out loud and tap it before integrating it into your playing — this anchors the offset entry in your physical sense of rhythm. The short legato slurs in the vocal line need space and forward thinking: planning the phrasing on the breath makes for a more flowing delivery. The 87 bars are rhythmically consistent throughout — the pulse remains stable, which makes learning the piece considerably easier.
A browsable score preview of six pages shows the complete arrangement in advance — no blind purchase. A playback track with melody and without melody is also available as a purchasable option, practical for checking tempo and phrasing. A short demo audio sample is available free of charge so you can get a reliable first impression. The sheet music is available for immediate download after purchase. 100% licensed — ready to perform legally, right away.
