This is an arrangement of the famous Welsh lullaby.This work forvoice and piano is not at all a set of variations on a theme, because the singer sings the same unembelished melody for the four stanzas of the song. The four first measure of the this theme are played once as anintroduction. The piano, however, is asked to create a different atmosphere eachtime the theme returns, replacing the meaning of the words. It is therefore the jobof the singer to find a different way of presenting the same theme, sequence bysequence, which is not entirely the easiest thing to do!t thing to do!
