Three Dances - Sheet Music for Tuba Quartett Eett Tilman Susato

Ronde, Pavane, Salterelle. Three popular 16th-century songs arranged for euphonium-tuba quartet. Euphonium parts only in bass clef. Fourth-year players or junior high school students can be appropriately challenged by these arrangements. They generally feature free use of syncopation as well as tutti and solo scoring. Cues and cross-cues are also less frequently used.

Tilman Susato (ca. 1500–1560) was a trumpeter, publisher, and composer. Like many composers of his time, he drew upon popular dance styles and folk songs as part of his compositional output. These three movements are from his collection "The Third Music Box" published in Antwerp in 1551.

These are movements based on popular songs from Susato's era, arranged for various instrumental combinations. The present arrangement places the Pavane between the lively Rondo and the dance-like Saltarelle. Unlike other arrangements, it is notated in different keys for each movement. The key of E-flat major for the outer movements makes it playable for this instrumentation and lends the music additional brilliance.
