"Semper Fidelis" – "Always Faithful" – is the motto of the U.S. Marine Corps. The march was composed in 1888 by John Philip Sousa after he was appointed the first American-born conductor of the Marine Band. Together with "The Stars and Stripes Forever," "Semper Fidelis" is one of the most recognizable symbols of American military music.
