Product Description
Little is known about Giacomo de Lucchesini (? – 1739). He was an Italian nobleman, military officer and composer of the 18th century. In addition to his career as a captain of cuirassier cavalry in the service of Emperor Charles VI, de Lucchesini devoted himself intensively to the study of composition and music theory. In 1738, together with Lorenz Christoph Mizler and Georg Heinrich Bümler in Leipzig, he founded the "Société pour la correspondance des sciences musicales", an academy with strong Pythagorean influence that demanded mathematical and contrapuntal skills from its members. Johann Sebastian Bach himself was admitted as an honorary member.
As a composer, de Lucchesini preferred instrumental music and theoretical works with a mathematical-philosophical approach. Only the Concerto in G minor for solo flute, strings and basso continuo has survived from him. De Lucchesini died tragically in 1739 in the Battle of Gročka near Belgrade during the Austro-Turkish War.
The present reconstruction is based on a score copy from the 18th century, which is housed in the Saxon State and University Library Dresden (GroF 1204). The solo part has been assigned to the sopranino recorder, but can of course also be played with the flute. The harpsichord continuo was added from the unfigured basso continuo. In addition to the score, all individual parts are included in a PDF file.
