Muss i denn - a.k.a. Wooden Heart
The modern version of the song was created by Bert Bert Kaempfert
(among others), based on a German folk song by Friedrich Silcher,
"Muss i denn." Elvis sang this melody as "Wooden Heart" in the
movie "G.I. Blues" in a style very different from a typical Elvis song.
He sang a mixture of the German words and newer lyrics in English.
Aura Lea - a.k.a. Love Me Tender
The melody for this song is based on an 1861 Civil War song, Aura
Lea, and was adapted two different ways for two Elvis films. Under
the title of "Love Me Tender" it was used in Elvis´ movie of the same
name. And under the title of "Violet, Flower of N.Y.U." it was used
in Elvis´ movie "The Trouble with Girls."
Battle Hymn of the Republic (Glory, Glory)
Elvis had a special arrangement for his live shows called "American
Trilogy." The core of the trilogy was the "Battle Hymn of the
Republic" ("Glory, Glory"), and the two other songs were
interspersed. It is recorded on the album "Elvis As Recorded At
Madison Square Garden (1972)."
