Product Description
The single Sternenhimmel was released in September 1982, reached number 2 in the German charts, remained there for 22 weeks and was awarded gold. The singer and musician Hubert Kah, actually Hubert Kemmler, was an important representative of the Neue Deutsche Welle (NDW), a new genre that emerged in the German music business in 1976.
Together with Michael Cretu, Hubert Kemmler wrote and produced tracks and albums for singers and bands such as Münchener Freiheit, Peter Schilling, Juliane Werding, Maggie Reilly and Sally Oldfield and was able to make a good living from the royalties.
NDW was initially the German-language version of "punk" and "new wave", but developed into popular music over time. Representatives of this commercial style were the bands Fehlfarben, Extrabreit, Ideal and DAF.
In the end, the genre was increasingly dominated by artists who used elements of Schlager in a modernized, sometimes ironic form. These included Hubert Kah, Markus, Nena, Trio, Falco and Peter Schilling. In 1983/84, the genre disappeared as quickly as it had arrived.
