A sonata for violin and double bass by Mozart? That's right. These sonatas (see also order no. V 103 and 105) each consist of 4 movements from the 12 "cone duets" for two basset horns. This is quite good for concert practice, because 4 movements by Mozart as a sonata are better suited to a concert than ..., well, "delighting" the audience with all 12 pieces. All 12 would be quite lengthy, although it is pleasant music overall, just Mozart. In well-dosed portions of 4 movements, these sonatas are a real enrichment of the double bass literature, which is also demanding for the bass player, as many parts of the bass part are in the violin system, while for the violinist the whole thing is more of a pleasant exercise. The "Kegelduette" are also available in their entirety in an arrangement for cello and double bass and can be heard on the CD "cello bass duette".
