Carl Filtsch (1830-1845), Frédéric Chopin's most brilliant pupil, was enthusiastically celebrated by his teacher: "My God! Such a child! No one has ever understood me like this!" The young composer from Transylvania died at the age of just 14, leaving behind fragments of astonishing poetic depth.
