O nott’ o dolce tempo was composed in 1990 as the fifth piece in the first cycle of choral songs based on
poems by Michelangelo.
Max Beckschäfer
was born in Münster/Westphalia in 1952. He studied church music and composition in Munich.
He worked for many years as an organist and choirmaster. Since 1988, he has held a lectureship for music theory
at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, and since 2000, Max Beckschäfer has been a professor of music theory at the
Hochschule für Musik und Theater Augsburg and Nuremberg.
Vocal and choral works form a focus in his versatile compositional output.
