C3 - Sheet Music for trumpet in Bb/C + organ Jean-Thierry Boisseau

I remember that, in the Sixties, our friend Pierre Cochereau and Roger Delmotecreated the first "traveling" trumpet and organ concert because they traveled around France with a large organ which Cochereau drove around in a trailor which was pulled by one of his numerous automobiles. Their repertoire (as well as those of their colleagues Marie-Claire Alain and Maurice André) was mainly made up of transcriiptions I believe that this is still the case for the majority of trumpet and organ duos.

I wanted to offer to a young and brotherly duo an original piece which is a reference tothe typical works for this ensemble. The title of this concert allegro scherzando is areference to their initials: Carson and Colby Cooman .

This is a mini-concerto or a concerto de poche. The role of the organ and much morethan a simple accompagnement. The work is, as one would wish to see traditionally, akind of discussion between the two brotehr, first in agreement, then in disagreement and finally in agreement, centered around the same brief musical phrase. The work isdeliberately tonal and neo-classical. It integrates different styles of profane and sacred music, without avoiding pastiche or even a musical quote. The registration indicated puts the trumpet in competition with certain organ stops, the reeds in particular. Thereis also use, if possible, for the traditional effections of the organ swell. It is suggested,never the less, to take care that the timbre of the trumpet is matched by those of the organ and also to use rubato moderately, only taking time during fermatas. This is a joyful work which the short Choral at the end of the first third, with its false Gregorian Theme, will never make it into a completely "serious" work.
