AEON is an a cappella composition for five-part female choir or a vocal ensemble in solo formation, consisting of only one tone. The sound experiment only unfolds its full effect in an enclosed space with optimal reverberation, such as a church.
One voice begins to sing the note softly, the other voices follow at intervals of a quarter note, the structure of the sequence changes continuously, the distance always remains the same. The tones of the five voices slowly merge together, becoming stronger until a space-filling sound is created, which gradually becomes weaker again and disappears into nothingness.
Assuming the framework conditions are right, the surprisingly unusual sound can create an almost magical mood through the overlapping of the overtones and give space to feelings such as sadness, pain, loss, but also comfort, peace, hope and joy.
The choral piece is particularly suitable for solemn church occasions of all kinds (especially for funeral or burial ceremonies), but also for meditations, concerts and lounge events.
