Zephyr for solo flute is dedicated to and written for Christophe Brandon.
The work is an evocation of the Greek god of the West Wind. There is a certain
playfulness and spontaneity in the character of the work, much like the playfulness
of a gentle Summer breeze.
The outer sections are played freely in a languorous manner, and frame a central
scherzo-like section which is much more rythmically driving. The last section
brings the work to a quiet close.
