Hinweise des Arrangeurs
This new addition to the trumpet repertoire was created by combining the most important lines from the trumpet, solo voice, and string parts of Handel's classic composition into a new solo work for trumpet with organ. The resurrection context of the original material makes this an excellent choice for Easter Sunday.

This solo calls for an accomplished player, because of both the musical and physical demands of the music. Although most will probably perform the piece on either the D or piccolo trumpet, the soloist who wishes to emphasize the robust character of the bass voice lines might well opt for the C trumpet.

The section beginning at letter L is provided in case additional time is needed, ie. an offertory performance involving a large congregation. However, as a strictly musical issue, many will find that the piece feels complete when played from the beginning to the fine, without ever going into letter L.

I dedicate this music to James Ackley, whose passion for the trumpet and expressive music making is an inspiration to all who have had the opportunity to hear him perform or to study with him. (Lew Buckley)
